Does your life feel more like a child constantly banging on a pile of pots and pans than a beautiful symphony of rhapsodic melodies?
If so, then it is time to take a rest stop.
In music, the rest periods provide the quiet space in wich to enjoy the notes that were just played.
In life, our rest stops provide the same function.
I learned this Energy Surge the hard way first — by doing my best to ‘beat the clock day in and day out’ to see how much I could fit into a day.
By banging on note after note (Getting on the computer as soon as I woke up, Going from one meeting to the next without even a bathroom break, Staying on the computer to all hours of the night attempting to catch up on every one of the notes and emails I had received during the day) for days on end without even a chance to catch my breath, I burned out my Adrenal system and would up in bed for two years….a forced rest stop.
What I learned while I was recuperating is that there will always be more emails, more events, more requests, more opportunities…and to enjoy them fully…I must be sure my energy is fully re-charged in-between each one.
And, that means taking self-intentional time-outs and rest stops!
Some of these will be 5 minutes of quite in-between a meeting and my next activity. Some of these will be afternoons spent shopping, reading, relaxing with my husband and animals. And, some of these will be days, weeks, and months on vacation doing something completely different from what I usually do.
In taking these rest stops, I create my life as a beautiful muscial composition filled with chi-lightful rhythms and melodies … in-between the chi-liciously quiet moments!
